Disaster Relief Appeal
NAJIT is delighted to announce that over 1300 interpreters and translators representing approximately 65 languages have signed up with the National Virtual Translation Center (NVTC) in response to the May 2006 Disaster Relief Appeal. This mechanism has provided a means for NAJIT members to volunteer critical language expertise in the event of local and national crises. NAJIT, NVTC and the American Red Cross are continuing our collaboration and now working together to solidify this critical initiative and partnership. Thanks to all the NAJIT members and colleagues in sister organizations who have generously agreed to serve in time of need. The opportunity is still available for those who would like to help. Please note that this is an NVTC initiative and address any questions to them at: http://www.nvtc.gov
